UPDATE: In our commitment to health and safety for all, Sidebar feels that we have no other choice but to close temporarily due to recent developments involving the COVID-19 Pandemic. This decision was made out of concern for the health and well-being of our City, our awesome Staff, our International Guests and all People. The Mayor has declared a State of Emergency within the city, City Hall is closed to the public, more and more authorities in the U.S. and around the world are suggesting that bars and dine-in restaurants should not be open, and the potential threat to human health and life that is currently being reported cannot be ignored in good conscience.

Sidebar is a small-scale place. The slowdown in business and halting of events and cancellations have already hurt us. This closure will financially devastate us as a business and as individuals. There are bills that we owe that I don't know how we are going to pay and it is currently unknown if we will be able to make arrangements to come back. As owners, we are heartbroken and scared. Scared for ourselves and for our friends on staff. We have a tightly knit core team at Sidebar that really cares about one another and I really can't describe how devastating this is.

But I am not a doctor, scientist, or government leader. The level of risk currently being conveyed through the media and authorities, local and abroad, are presenting the idea of social gatherings as a significant risk to society. At our bar we survive on safe social gatherings, it's the only function that we serve. We will do everything we can to survive the closure as a business and return to life as normal ASAP! Thank you to our beautiful guests in Atlanta and from all over the world! Thank you to our amazing, caring staff that regularly has gone above and beyond the call of duty! Thank you to the City of Atlanta for allowing us to serve here! Thank you to our business partners and associates!

Just wanted to drop a little update on Sidebar: We are actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it evolves and following the guidance of health officials. As of now, there are no plans to halt operations, but health and safety will always come first. We have always been committed to maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe environment for guests and staff, and will continue to do anything that we can or that is suggested by health officials to help stop this thing. We are a small, independently owned local business that supports a team of wonderfully talented, hardworking people.
Something like 48% of all US employees work for independent small businesses. Without support from local guests and cooperation among local businesses during these uncertain times, it would be very difficult to protect these jobs. Unlike large corporations, most independently-owned small businesses do not have cash reserves that will allow them to take care of their people through an event or to "bounce back" after a prolonged closure. Thank you for coming out, be safe, and no matter what part of town you're going out to: Try to support a local spot and help people keep their jobs! Please continue to support our independently owned neighbors @parkbaratl and @sliceatlanta in Downtown as well. See you soon!
